A school cleaning contract is part safeguarding, part infection control, part logistics, and a small amount of mopping. We've been doing all of it for Somerset schools for the best part of half a century.

We work with primary, secondary, independent and SEN schools across Taunton, Bridgwater, Wells, Yeovil, Glastonbury and the wider county. Every operative is DBS-checked, safeguarding-trained, and briefed on the specifics of the site they're working on. RAMS, COSHH and infection-control documents come with every contract.

01 — Scope

Tailored to your school.

Each school has its own rhythm — assemblies, lunch service, after-school clubs, holiday deep cleans. A typical scope covers:

  • Classrooms and teaching spaces
  • Toilet and washroom blocks
  • Corridors and circulation
  • Staff rooms and offices
  • Halls, gyms and shared rooms
  • Dining halls and food-adjacent areas
  • Reception and visitor spaces
  • Hard and carpeted floors
  • Bins and waste streams
  • Holiday deep cleans
02 — Why us
Why Somerset schools choose KS Cleaning

Built for safeguarding, audited as standard.

DBS — without exception

Every operative working on a school site is DBS-checked before they set foot in the building. We hold the certificates and keep them current.

Safeguarding-aware

Our staff are inducted on safeguarding in practice — reporting routes, visitor protocols, what conversations to have and what conversations to walk away from.

Infection control built in

Products and procedures appropriate to education settings, including primary and SEN environments where the risk profile is different.

Flex with the calendar

Daily term-time cleans, holiday deep cleans, exam-period sensitivity, and ad-hoc cover when you need it. We work to your year, not ours.

Photo-verified visits

Bursars and business managers see every clean logged with photo evidence — useful for Ofsted prep, governor reporting, and end-of-term reviews.

RAMS, COSHH, compliance

Site-specific risk assessments and COSHH data sheets supplied as standard. No paperwork chasing, no last-minute compliance scrambles.

03 — FAQ

School cleaning questions.

Are all your staff DBS-checked?
Yes — every operative, not only supervisors. We DBS-check before any work begins on site and keep records current.
Do your staff have safeguarding training?
Yes. Safeguarding awareness is part of our induction for any operative who'll work on a school site, with refresher sessions built into the year.
When do you clean schools?
Typically early morning before doors open, late afternoon after pupils have left, or during holidays for deeper work. We agree the pattern with your site manager during onboarding.
Can you deep clean during the holidays?
Yes. Half-terms, Easter and summer holidays are ideal for kitchens, halls, sports surfaces, and any area that's hard to reach during term.
How do we verify the cleaning standard?
Through our client portal — every task logged with photo evidence and timestamps. Useful for inspection prep and for trustees who need oversight without site visits.
Can you provide RAMS and COSHH documents?
Yes. Site-specific risk assessments, method statements and COSHH sheets are part of the contract.
Which kinds of schools do you work with?
Primary, secondary, independent, SEN, nurseries and post-16 sites. Every contract is scoped individually.
How do we get started?
Book a free site survey. We walk the school, meet your site manager, and come back with a written proposal.
